We specialise in both Knap and Field Flintwork.
The image shown here to the right shows an example of Knap Flintwork and involves uniformly setting flint stone into brickwork in an ornate fashion. It can usually by seen on the outside of churches and cathedrals as part of a decorative design.
The image shown here to the right shows an example of Field Flintwork and involves setting locally sourced flint stone of random shapes and sizes amongst brickwork. It is more commonly found in residential houses such as cottages and period properties. It can also form part of a garden wall.
When carrying out flintwork, it is possible to use one of two mortar varieties. Lime mortar mix or modern sand and cement mix mortar. We always discuss with the client, which one would best suit the project.
